Domestic Abuse & Mental Awareness Conference

Domestic Abuse and Mental Health Awareness Conference

Organised by Kaushalya UK

Kaushalya UK hosts an annual Domestic Abuse and Mental Health Awareness
Conference every January to shine a light on the vital and often overlooked link between
domestic abuse and mental health. The conference serves as a platform for survivors,
professionals, frontline workers, and community members to come together, share
knowledge, and act on the intersecting challenges faced by women and families affected by
abuse.

Held in Walsall, the conference features expert speakers, panel discussions, survivor
testimonies, and workshops. The focus is not only on raising awareness but also on
encouraging meaningful conversations that can lead to practical support, policy change, and
community healing.

At Kaushalya UK, we believe that open dialogue is essential in challenging the stigma
surrounding both domestic abuse and mental health, especially within South Asian and other
minority communities where these issues are often silenced.

Aims and objectives:

  • To raise awareness of the complex relationship between domestic abuse and mental
    health.
  • To highlight the lived experiences of survivors and amplify their voices.
To foster collaboration between professionals, service providers, and community
    organisations.
  • To create a safe, inclusive space for open and honest conversations.
  • To share research, strategies, and best practices in supporting survivors.
  • To educate attendees on culturally sensitive approaches to mental health and abuse.
  • To inspire action through networking, collaboration, and community-led solutions.
